Jerrodoemie was born Friday June 22 1984, in Tampa Florida; he began to take an interest in art when he started to draw characters that he liked from cartoons that aired in the late 1980’s. Throughout his academic studies he showed a constant interest in art and gradually learned different traditional styles and techniques that was introduced to him by his instructors.
His self discovery as an artist mainly took place at home as he continued to draw characters that were from his favorite series at the time, during middle school he was fortune enough to come encounter with Japanese animation which then and still now influences a large amount of his work.
High School was another large development stage for Jerrodoemie; skillfully he grew leaps and bounds and expressed a deep respect for natural and self taught talent. He also begin to experiment with developing his own characters, which first started off as drawing himself and his closet friends as cartoons. He entered and won some competitions and was given private lessons to further the traditional background that he started building in grade school.
After high school Jerrodoemie wanted to take his talent to the next level and by doing so make a significant impact in the art world, so he enrolled at International Academy of Design and Technology.
“I believe that art is one of the most powerful forms of communication that man has discovered within his short existence on earth. Throughout history, art has perpetuated propaganda, ignited anger, created fear, and influenced faith.”
“Change your vision” is my statement to the world as the artist Retro Specs; I challenge each person to look inward and to envision the world from the perspective of an opposite person—to gain better understanding of themselves and the people around them.
I entered the Artistik Envy contest to gain exposure and to get my name and face out there and more importantly, get the artwork circulating. In the not too distant future I hope to be able to influence people with my artwork and bring about positive change with each show and each piece of work that I produce.

Out of all the pieces of art I find this one to be my personal favorite as far as Aesthetics and Style. I think there is more concept in this piece then was explained on the competition night however the typography doesn’t do much for me as well.
Keep up the good work

I like the fact that your artwork is all done by hand. It adds a certain human character to the feeling of the piece.
