Can he stay on top?…

The second round was “70′S REVIVAL” and it went pretty well, although I did not execute as well as I should. Big ups though to my model Ebonie, she is the bomb. A TRUE artist is never satisfied with their work, but I was bitter as to having been out-stage by one of my lesser competition. As a professional, I still congratulate him/her for stepping their game up, but none the less, I am a COMPETITOR BY HEART and NOT BY CHOICE. When I did not receive top three this week I felt like I let myself down because I knew I could have done better.  Its ok though, should I advance to the third round, I have something for everyone and they wont be disappointed. I DO AIM TO PLEASE, AND PLEASE TO AIM FOR SUCCESS…..

And So The Journey Begins…

It has been 5 weeks now since I have been selected to be apart of this wonderful competition, and as a competitor I loved every minute of it. Despite the timing of all the photo-shoots and the sleepless night, I feel that by participating in this Envy competition has helped me grow both as an artist and a professional. I love the critiques given by the judges and I feel that their advice will help me throughout this competition.

So the first show/concept was”HAVANA DAYS” and I was so proud of the piece I presented.  My model, Erica Rodriquez was exceptional as well. i was told by a few that I set the bar for the competion by eceeding expectations.  I felt like I hit all three essential elements in producint my piece: concept, excecution, and presetation.  I truley “CAME A LONG WAY” from aditioins until now.  Who would of thought this procrastination student who presented his work on a piece of cardboard would become the FIRST contestant in the history of the contest to win top votes and a spot in the top three..MOM, I MADE IT HAPPEN..LOL

Professionalism…What Does It Really Mean?

As a professional artist I truly believe there is a certain level of respect to be had by an artist in his/her profession.   It is ok to have an opinion about someone’s work, whether it be good or bad, but just remember to give constructive criticism instead of bashing one’s creativity in front of others because that is just pure hatred.  Even when it comes to presentation, if another artist has an upper hand on you, as far as props and execution of concept, give them props and take some notes, instead becoming jealous. When it comes to my very own work, I admit that I can become a little defensive, but only if the criticisms comes from another artist who’s caliber of work is not up to par with mine.  It is like the sewer rat calling the house cat ugly, makes no sense!  So what does professionalism mean to you, as an artist or just an admirer of art?
