My name is R. Brian Wilson. I am a computer animator with technical, engineering and artistic background as a character animator, primary setup artist and CG artist at Sealund & Associates. I was a draftsman at HSA Engineering, where I was responsible for technical setup, finalizing projects and training new associates. I am a 9 year acting veteran at Busch Gardens’ annual Howl-O-Scream event. A former manager of Mannequin Murals, where I was responsible for designing and painting murals as well as managing 6 other artists. My long-term goal is to be an animation lead on a major motion picture. Short-term, my goal is to improve my demo reel and do whatever it takes to get hired full time into an animation company.
I am critical and analytical, observant, imaginative, artistic, hard on deadlines, a have an artistic, technical and theatrical background.
On a personal level, I’m pretty laid back and am constantly on the move. Right now, I’m juggling three jobs as well as this competition on top of trying to finish up an animated short for the festival season. But I hope there’s never a moment in my life where I can’t step back, take a breath and have a good laugh. I love rollerblading, playing volleyball, jogging (I used to be on the USF track team), and above all coming up with new projects to work on. My projects are my passion, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
If you’d like to see some of my work, head on over to my website at www.RBWilson.com.
Wish me luck.

I think the judges however were correct in the fact that I am losing the connection between Cuban Heritage and this piece. Great Art, Aesthetically pleasing, and you definetly have 3 Dimensional Skills

My daughter has helped me to grow my interest in art. She is a cartoonist and I look forward to helping her and anyone else who shows a great love for a talent that must never be ignored. Continued success to you and all your works of art.

Someone at Artistik Envy or the school needs to post your work. You are the only one without this week’s artwork viewable and this effects voting. I’ve seen the work and it is really really good. So please, if someone at Artistik Envy is reading the post, be fair and get all artist’s artwork posted in a timely manner.
Brian I think the video you created bringing the 70’s to now is very impressive. Hopefully they’ll post it before voting time is over so other people will be able to see it Good luck!!
October 27th, 2008 at 6:53 pm
The video blew me away. Good work Brian!
October 28th, 2008 at 2:19 pm
Hello… Artistik Envy… are you out there? Is it possible you could post Brian’s artwork? Having a hard time voting when I can’t see everyone’s work.
October 28th, 2008 at 4:38 pm
Andrea, the artwork has been posted. It is a video. You have to be able to view You Tube in order to see it. If you are using a computer from your work, they may have blocked You Tube. I can’t view it from work, but I can from home. Hope this helps.
October 29th, 2008 at 4:52 pm
Impressive work Brian. It has that polished Hollywood look to it. I loved how you transitioned from the 1970’s to today so smoothly. It looks like a serious version of Back To The Future.
Keep up the terrific work.

Wow Brian !!!
Dad was right, you are centered.
Can’t wait for more

This weeks Goth/Diva artwork is amazing. The sculpture of Bothemy in the bathtub is so good. I love how it rotates around to see all sides. I really like it. I think you truly made the real connection between Goth and Diva.
November 8th, 2008 at 12:50 pm
Hello. Love your piece. Everything you do is unique. I am glad you do things other than posters, or album covers. You art work is amazing. Lots of deep thought. You’ve always had a great talent for your art in many areas, from portraits to animations.
I see they have posted everyone’s previous artwork, for the last two compeitions, but they only show your last week’s piece. I’m sure they will get it posted though. I would like to see the critiques from last night posted soon too.
The pieces you do take a lot of time and a lot of talent. Your dad and I are very proud of you and what you do.
It’s nice to know the company you do animation work for felt the sculpture was amazing. I saw the sculpture before you posed her in the tub. I was blown away.
Love mom and dad

I’m glad to see that someone has the guts to go in a different direction from everyone else. Some of the others did a good job or they would not be here, but I like the way you think about your work. Keep it up. Tom
November 13th, 2008 at 10:03 pm
I definitely think this is one of your stronger pieces. I love the fact that you dabble into a different medium such as film while keeping emphasis on yoru passion for animation. Love the 3D sculpture of the countis. Keep up the good work and CONGRATS ON MAKING IT TO THE TOP 4!!

November 23rd, 2008 at 9:44 am
I love this week’s picture. I wasn’t sure what the contestants would create with the theme, Urban Funk. You always find something unique and different. The wood mannequin was a good choice to use. I really like it. Each week I look forward to your artwork because it’s always interesting to see what media you will use to convey the topic. You are very talented!
November 24th, 2008 at 11:08 pm
Good luck Brian. Your pencil drawing really reflects “Urban Funk”. I remember the days of endless traffic and feeling like I was on a treadmill getting nowhere driving around in Tampa and other big cities. Good concept.
November 24th, 2008 at 11:10 pm
What an interesting concept! Looking forward to your artwork next week. I like how you have a different perspective and different medium weekly. Some of the other artists just seem to repeat the same old thing with little variety each week. Your’s are always different. Keep up the good work.
November 26th, 2008 at 1:09 pm
Your work is very unique. The reflection of the street sign was an unusual touch which really brought my attention to the small details. The black and white “look” adds an air of depression which seemed to be your intention from watching the video. When I saw the saw the title “Urban Funk”, I expected something from the 1970’s musical era and your display of funk was that monotonous day to day aggravation many of us experience going thru life. Very creative thinking on your part Brian and congratulations on a well done presentation. I am looking forward to seeing your next presentation. Good Luck.
November 26th, 2008 at 6:44 pm
Brian, your latest piece of art is impressive. Keep up the excellent work!
November 26th, 2008 at 9:27 pm
You got this!
December 5th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
Brian, I like your unconventional take on the various assignments and your diversity in the media you chose. Great creativity and imaginative thinking on your part. And ya gotta love that Carousel of Progress soundtrack that you used for the 70’s Revival project. I guess your extensive range of life experiences gives you a broader palette from which to color your works. Fabulous job! Congratulations on your achievement here and I hope you have continued success in your future artistic pursuits.
December 5th, 2008 at 10:13 pm
The quality of this work is out of this world Brian. I foresee a very brighht future for a person with your great mix of talents.
Congratulations on this Pièce de résistance. You have outdone everything seen here.
December 5th, 2008 at 11:39 pm
Impressive animation. It looks right out of a Disney film.
Your mother told us you were a talented young man and she wasn’t exaggerating at all. Best of luck.

WOW Brian…this is awesome. I love it!!!
December 8th, 2008 at 8:31 pm
wow! amazing…
December 9th, 2008 at 11:01 am
You are so far beyond the level of “requirement” for this competition. The judges maybe don’t realize how digital art works. This is not a rehashing if you did it all over again. You prove that you are what the hiring art world wants, and that should make you number one right off the bat! What a neat idea… And you are so driven and aggressive, which makes you ROCK!
December 9th, 2008 at 11:35 am
Brian,
That was sooooo wierd and I loved the unexpected ending. The facial expressions and the views from the character’s perspective were incredably effective. You’ve done great work for us too. We’d hate to lose you but you are far too talented for technical graphics alone
December 9th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
YO Dude You really did it this time. PHANTASTIC !!!!!!!!!!!
Took forever to get my new password but you made it worth the effort. Go get’em !!!
Tom Jones usps
December 9th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
Brian, I’m glad Tom stuck with voting. We’ve had several friends and family members tell me or dad that they are having trouble getting their User ID and passwords to work. Some still can’t get on. It’s frustrating to say the least. So know that people are trying to vote for you. People love your artwork and are proud of you!
December 10th, 2008 at 4:57 am
well b, you’ve got my vote. keep up the amazing work, i know you will.

December 10th, 2008 at 7:50 pm
Brian you truly are “In A League Of Your Own”. I can’t imagine all the work it took to create this stunning presentation. You better clear a spot on your mantle for the First Place award because when the contest ends, you’ll be taking a victory lap and doing backflips if the voters get it right.
Good Luck,
Pat M.
December 11th, 2008 at 12:02 am
Good luck Brian. All your work was very well done. This final work was the most impressive of anything I have viewed in the contest.
December 11th, 2008 at 12:15 am
I hope you win.

December 13th, 2008 at 2:29 am
Congratulations! Well-deserved! Now others can see how talented you are, too!
December 13th, 2008 at 10:57 am
Congratulations on your well deserved victory. Week in and week out you showed us voters your wide variety of skills in the artistic arena. You carried yourself with poise and confidence during the live judging and enlightened the audience in regards to your creative thinking processes. It was always a pleasure to look forward to seeing what new artistic surprises awaited us. I intend to keep an eye out for the name Brian Wilson when I scan the credits at the end of movies because I won’t be surprised to see your name.
The many voters have spoken and wire to wire, you were the Peoples Choice. As your future unfolds, we look forward to seeing even more of your Creative Genius that this competition gave us a glimpse of.
